Principal's Message

Welcome to the MGS website. It is indeed an honor for me to write this message because it will not only be read by the present teachers and students, but also by anyone who visits our website. The Internet has made available all of us information from all over the world which before takes weeks and months to acquire, but now with just a click of ht emouse or just a touch of our finger!

I take the pleasure to say that indeed God has blessed MGS abundantly. We have a great school passed to us from our predecessors: our past principals and teachers who have with their dedication and passion for th eschool brought it to its present glory. We have produced students who have also brought us honor and pride with their great achievements, serving as important figures both in the Government sector as well as the private sector.

Every year the academic results of our students speak volume of the hard work put in by the teachers and students themselves. Despite the fact that many of our girls come from challenging backgrounds, the school maintained excellent results in all public examinations, the PMR, SPM and STPM. Many of our girls get admitted to Fully Residential Schools after their PMR, but many chose to stay back because they believe that the MGS is the school of their choice.

We believe in value-added education for our students. We encouraged all students to  be involved in community projects as well as projects which help to conserve our environment. For community projects this year, students have gone out to The Stepping Stone, Rumah Rahoma, Wisma Harapan, Kampung Sg. Sireh Tg. Karang for Homestay etc where they learn love and care for children who are mentally challenged, from difficult family background and also those who are less privileged than them. As for the environment projects, we have programmes in school like the Secondary Schools Energy Efficiency Action Project (SSEEAP), Recycling, making compost and paper, Gotong-royong at Forest Reserve Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) and also planting of vegetables, plants and trees around the school. Besides, we have been fortunate to have set up two clubs this year, i) the Key Club under the sponsorship of the Kiwanis Malaysia and Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur, ii) the Young Entreprenuer Club sponsorship of
American Chamber of Commerce and General Electric International, have trained a group of girls to understand how business works, through hands-on creation, development and management of their own company. This had enabled them to become strong leaders and entrepreneurs in future. We also have our INTERACT CLUB under the sponsorship of Rotary Damansara where the members this year raised funds to help some of our poor students to pay their school fees.

We are honored and privileged to have a community that loves and support us: parents, benefactors and stakeholders have been most dedicated in helping the girls achieve their best in their education, including in their co-curricular activities. Parents, alumnae, friends and all in the community have contributed selflessly to add value to the education of the girls. The School Alumni has also set up a special fund which gives scholarship to poor students of the school.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Uni.Asia Life Assurance Sdn., under the Bank Negara adoption programme has brought  immense benefit to the school. They have sponsored projects on enabling the students to be more financially literate for the past three years. It is also timely that our gratitude goes to MatrixConnexion (Google Apps representative for the ASEAN region) because their contribution in setting up Google Apps has helped the school to interact and exchange information through cloud computing. Every student and teacher may communicate with each other through the school blog, email, forum, calendar, virtual classrooms, videos etc)... certainly an important tool to help us achieve our school vision of becoming a knowledge-based school by 2012.

MGS is proud to say that we have even attracted the attention of schools from beyond our shore. Every year we have the privilege of playing host to a variety of schools. This year we had students and teachers from the Ling Leung Church E Wun Secondary School, Hong Kong, and also the Chiba Eiwa High School, Japan who visited us on a cultural and social exchange programme.

There is still much to be accomplished. We set our eyes on life-long learning and encourage all teachers and students to look beyond just passing examinations. Besides the importance of achieving our vision, our mission is to continue to produce students who are of noble character, who are knowledgeable, skilful and competitive in all fields. I challenge each and every stakeholder to commit themselves to achieving both our vision and mission, and I am certain with God's Grace and Blessings, we will take the school to even greater heights.
